Kia ora Josie,

Thank you for your support for The Leaderful Movement and welcome to our first newsletter.

As the year speeds to a close, we are hearing a consistent theme - that the focus for many of you is simply ‘staying afloat’. That’s true for us too, but one thing we’ve found that has helped us is the positive impact of networks, both professional and personal. We frame this as "we are better together".

Through the last six months, in particular, we have seen first-hand how important relationships are with our colleagues and friends in sustaining us and building our resilience. We believe that developing professional and personal networks is more vital than ever in times of disruption and uncertainty. They can provide a consistent anchor as well as open up new thinking and opportunities.

Yet in times of stress and uncertainty, our natural response can be to withdraw and underinvest in networks while we focus on just getting the job done. That’s ok in the short term, but we know that investing in networks is one of the vital elements of career success. In our workshops and coaching with women, we often use the PIE model to show that exposure through networks and professional brand and image are more important for career success than performance as women move into leadership.

This might be true for you, or you may easily identify women in your organisation who feel overwhelmed and as a consequence haven’t been growing and broadening their networks. Like you, they need to know they are not alone. There is no judgement, only awareness of where you or the women in your organisation might be right now.

So, we are reaching out to offer some practical solutions to support you and the women in your organisation. At Leaderful, as well as coaching individual women, we have created a group coaching programme called Career Camp.

Welcome to Career Camp

It was only two weeks ago that we launched Career Camp and offered an introductory webinar to our members. We were delighted that in just over a week, we had over 60 women sign up, with ongoing conversations with those looking to enrol into our Career Camp tribe.

It has been humbling to hear from women who are telling us they feel inspired by the opportunity to connect with other women and to have access to dedicated support for their career development.

We are also pleased to hear from organisations who want to support their women in career development, to increase the number of women in leadership. This has undoubtedly shown us that this space is an area where women, leaders and organisations want and need support.

We asked, we listened, we heard, and we are responding by now offering Career Camp at two levels:

Early Career Camp – for women in the early stages of their careers who are looking at moving into a management or more senior role in the near future.

Mid Career Camp – for women who are likely to already be in a management role - of people, projects or P&L - and want to move into a more senior management or leadership role.

Both of these programmes are now kicking off in the last week of February, to allow women and organisations to kick start 2021 with energy, passion and purpose.

Our group programmes are limited to groups of up to 15 women to enable a safe learning environment. We would love to talk with you to see if our programme is a fit. Please enquire here to find out more and we will connect with you directly.

As members of the Leaderful Movement we’d also be grateful if you could share this link to Career Camp with your networks so we can reach as many women as possible.
Wishing you and your whānau a wonderful Christmas and well-deserved holiday. We hope to meet many of you in the New Year.

Ngā mihi nui
